There are many tours and day trips that are only a few hours drive from San Ramon. The following establishments are highly recommended because we have have had the oppurtunity to be there and do that. Feel free to send us any questions you might have concerning these places .

Corcovado State Park

The crown jewel of Costa Rica's national park system, Corcovado National Park (Parque Nacional Corcovado), is comprised of an enormous 103,290 acres (41,800 ha) of tropical rainforest. The largest of Costa Rica's parks, it encompasses about a third of the Osa Peninsula and embraces an unbelievable amount of its biodiversity. Corcovado Park represents a very diverse population of flora and fauna, including 10% of the mammals found in the Americas. Declared a protected area in 1975 to prevent the harvest of precious resources, it is believed to have the largest concentration of macaws and virgin lowland rainforest in Central America. Also, it is one of the very few locations in Costa Rica that harbor the endangered squirrel monkey (the other most prominent being Manuel Antonio National Park).

Don&t let the size fool you, the smallest of Costa Rica&s National Parks, which encompasses almost 1,700 acres of land (683 terrestrial hectares) and 136,000 acres of ocean (55,000 marine hectares), is regarded as one of its best.

Jaco

Playa Jaco is the closest beach to San Jose, the Central Valley and is one of the most visited coastal destinations in Costa Rica. The beach is a 2.5 mile (4 km) strip which offers world renowned surfing and more. Much like Costa Rica's metropolitan areas, Jaco's offers most services, such as a post office, health center and branches of major banks. Furthermore, there are an abundance of surf shops, hotels and restaurants affordable for the budget travelers as well as those wishing to live a bit more luxuriously.

Playa Bejuco

Playa Bejuco is only about 35km north of Manuel Antonio and about 30 km south from Jaco but the atmosphere could not be more distant from the more popular destinations. The beach is pristine and clean with a Blue Flag rating, is a popular nesting area for birds and even has some pretty good surf from time to time. Playa Bejuco is located in Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica

The Peace Lodge at
The La Paz Waterfall Gardens

The splendid gardens of La Paz are located on the slopes of the Poas volcano, just an hour from San Jose, in the central highlands. This area is rich in bio diversity thanks to an altitude of that varies between 4,000 and 5,000 feet, allowing for both cloud forest and rain forest to co-exist. Be prepared for a truly magical experience. Here, visitors will find the largest butterfly observatory in the world, hummingbird and bromeliad gardens, a serpentarium, frog pond, and 5 striking waterfalls.

Arenal Volcano

One of the most spectacular and awe inspiring displays of natural beauty is the Arenal Volcano (Volcán Arenal). Don't be surprised if you hear a hearty rumble, at 5,389 ft (1,643 m), Costa Rica's most active volcano erupts constantly, giving spectators a healthy dose of fireworks and puffs of steam into the air. Laying dormant for hundreds of years, the sleeping giant unexpectedly exploded in 1968, revealing its hidden fury. The Arenal volcano left the nearby town of Tabacón and its inhabitants in ruins, completely destroying and covering in ash whatever had been there.
